🇹🇷 Investigation opened against Davutoglu for insulting the President 🇹🇷

The Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a judicial investigation against former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on charges of insulting the President, and set September 7 as the date to take his statement, as he does not enjoy parliamentary immunity. The case stems from a recirculated video clip in which he responded to an accusation of not objecting to certain files during his tenure as Prime Minister, where Davutoglu said: "If I hadn't objected, I wouldn't have lost my position as Prime Minister, and if I hadn't objected, I would have doubled my billions like the Prime Minister who succeeded me and the other ministers. I did not eat a single piaster of haram money, and I told them not to eat, but they did. He (Erdogan) appointed his son-in-law as a minister and made his relatives wealthy."

• It is worth noting that Turkish law punishes anyone who insults the President with imprisonment for a period ranging from one to four years.
