The U.S. Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on the Turkish "Golden Global Bank" and its affiliated institutions in Istanbul, freezing its assets, due to its conduct of tens of millions of dollars in transactions for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and supporting Tehran's international payments. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that the move is intended to economically strangle Tehran, sending a message to financial institutions to realize "the hard way" Washington's seriousness in isolating Iran.
